When to choose it
Keeping active work visible as the main conversation grows.
Choose it if: you want a compact board within the current session.
Look elsewhere if: you need cross-session task storage or a separate hosted MCP service.
What the source describes
- Registers a session board tool and the /pinboard pane command.
- Observes supported successful creation-tool results to collect selected HTTPS links.
Requirements
- Claude Code 2.1.287+; the author describes building against 2.1.288.
- A supported Mod-pane interface, such as an interactive terminal.
- Permission to load user-installed Mods.
Install the plugin
- Check support and review the source. Use current Claude Code with Mod permission. Read the prompt and tool handlers before loading.Shell • setup check
claude --version - Activate the plugin. Reload plugins in an existing session if requested, or start a fresh session.
- Open explicitly. Manual opening works without relying on automatic wide-terminal docking.Claude Code command
/pinboard
These are the source’s documented installation steps. Read the source, license and requirements first. Marketplace installation can use a different scope from a local --plugin-dir session. Restart Claude Code or use /reload-plugins afterward.

claude plugin install pinboard@pinboard --scope localHow to use it
Open the board; the first item can also cause it to appear.
/pinboardAsk Claude to track remaining work and decisions. The Mod registers mcp__pinboard__update internally; you do not need a separate MCP server.
An original example for a bounded task. This request example is written by ClaudeStack; it is not a transcript of a tested session.
Track this feature’s remaining steps on Pinboard. Pin the unresolved decisions that need my input, and update completed tasks as the work proceeds. The mcp__pinboard__update name belongs to an in-process registered tool, not a separately configured MCP integration.
What to expect
The reviewed source describes these observations. ClaudeStack has not loaded or run this extension.
- A sidebar with session tasks, open decisions and recent supported output links.
- The board is included in model prompt context and updated through the registered tool.
Self-check: Compare board tasks with the actual work. Verify links resolve; do not expect the board to survive /clear or /resume.
Troubleshooting
Automatic docking does not happen
The README requires 144 columns before automatic opening. Run /pinboard explicitly at narrower widths.
The board is empty after resuming
The state is session-only. /clear and /resume intentionally start an empty board.
An output link is absent
Collection is limited to recognized successful main-conversation creation actions and HTTPS results; arbitrary chat URLs are not collected.
Disable or remove it
- Ctrl+X then X closes the pane; it does not uninstall its hooks.
- Disable or uninstall pinboard in /plugin and follow the reload or restart instruction.
Limitations & considerations
- The state is session-only; /clear and /resume start an empty board.
- Task accuracy depends on model updates; this is not a durable project-management database.
- Automatic link capture recognizes specific creation actions, not every URL.
Mods execute with your user privileges and are not sandboxed. They can access files, launch processes and make network requests. ClaudeStack has not run or security-audited this Mod. Use claude plugin validate on a downloaded directory to inspect declared behavior; validation does not certify safety. Check the official trust guidance before loading it.
Source & review record
Our description is based on public documentation and manifests available on 2026-10-05, including the hooks-module pointer and registration source. Installation formats were checked against Claude Code and the relevant installer documentation. No extension code was executed: this is a source review, not a runtime compatibility test or security audit.
