A skill teaches Claude how to approach a task. An MCP server exposes tools; a mod executes handlers inside Claude Code. A skill can ask Claude to use those capabilities, but the Markdown file itself is not a hosted service.
Skills can be saved in project or user skill directories, or shipped inside a plugin. The skills below are distinct authoring components in named packages. Their installation step installs that package; they are not separate marketplace products.
