When to choose it
Inspecting session metrics in a terminal pane.
Choose it if: You want detailed local metrics and accept the companion binary requirements.
Look elsewhere if: You need a pure UI snippet with no local process or transcript access.
What the source describes
- The /cctop-pane command toggles an in-process dashboard
- Engine events provide basic context, cost and limit data
- A separately installed cctop binary supplies richer local metrics
Requirements
- Claude Code 2.1.287+; plugin 0.10.0 reports a 2.1.284 tested contract
- Install the companion binary for the full dashboard
- Fullscreen terminal and sufficient columns for a docked pane
Install from the reviewed source
These are the source’s documented installation steps. Read the source, license and requirements first. Marketplace installation can use a different scope from a local --plugin-dir session. Restart Claude Code or use /reload-plugins afterward.
brew install tomstagl/tap/cctop
claude plugin marketplace add tomstagl/cctop
claude plugin install cctop@cctopUse it after installation
Restart or /reload-plugins, then /cctop-pane. The bundled /cctop skill is a fallback.
Installation and loading troubleshootingLimitations & considerations
- Hybrid package includes a hooks-module Mod, skills and a companion executable
- The companion reads local session/transcript and process data; plugin launches cctop and writes ~/.cctop markers
- Coach can fill the prompt but upstream says it does not submit
- Costs and other metrics include estimates; they are not a subscription bill
- Current 2.1.289 compatibility was not runtime-tested by ClaudeStack
Mods execute with your user privileges and are not sandboxed. They can access files, launch processes and make network requests. ClaudeStack has not run or security-audited this Mod. Use claude plugin validate on a downloaded directory to inspect declared behavior; validation does not certify safety. Check the official trust guidance before loading it.
