When to choose it
A coordinated engineering workflow for a feature or a bug fix.
Choose it if: you want an explicit design and implementation process around development.
Look elsewhere if: you want a minimal single-purpose instruction or automatic changes without workflow review.
What the source describes
- Relevant workflow Skills activate from natural-language development tasks.
- Coordinates design, plans, debugging, testing and review, including subagent workflows.
Requirements
- Claude Code with plugin support.
- A readable project and Git for branch, worktree and document-commit workflows.
- The project’s own test tools; model usage for multi-stage reviews and delegated work.
- Bash/Git Bash on Windows for the SessionStart hook; Node.js for the optional visual companion.
A community-maintained plugin listed in Anthropic’s marketplace. Anthropic is not its author.
Install the plugin
- Inspect the workflow. Read the coordinated Skills. They can write and commit approved design documents and use branches, worktrees and subagents.
- Install the reviewed distribution. The official marketplace was pinned to Superpowers 6.4.1 at review time. Marketplace updates may install a later revision. If that marketplace is unavailable, add anthropics/claude-plugins-official first.
- Activate and scope the task. Check /plugin and follow its activation instruction. State the allowed work and ask for design discussion before changes.
- Optional visual-companion opt-out. The upstream README documents this environment variable before launching Claude Code to disable its version-bearing image telemetry request.Shell • setup check

Run the installation command in your shell after reviewing the source. Local scope enables the package for you in this repository. It does not enable it for every collaborator.
claude plugin install superpowers@claude-plugins-official --scope localHow to use it
Describe a feature, bug or debugging task naturally. The pinned source documents automatic Skill triggers; no legacy slash command is required.
An original example for a bounded task. This request example is written by ClaudeStack; it is not a transcript of a tested session.
Help me add CSV export to this application. Start by clarifying the design and tests, explain the plan, and wait for my agreement before changing code. The official marketplace source reviewed here is 6.4.1, pinned to this guide’s revision. Upstream main was 6.4.2 and the author marketplace listed 6.3.0 without a source SHA. These are distinct source observations, not installed-version tests.
What to expect
The reviewed source describes these observations. ClaudeStack has not loaded or run this extension.
- A design discussion followed by planning, implementation, tests and review as appropriate to the task.
- The source can produce written specifications and plans; approved design documents can be committed to Git.
Self-check: Confirm the active plugin distribution, inspect plans and any Git changes, and check actual test results. Plugin activation alone does not establish that a workflow completed.
Troubleshooting
The workflow does not trigger or repeats work
Confirm the plugin is active and review its using-superpowers instructions. The README describes asking it to diagnose the session’s workflow problem.
The visual companion makes an unexpected request
Its optional browser interface loads a version-bearing image. SUPERPOWERS_DISABLE_TELEMETRY=true opts out; the documented Claude Code telemetry opt-outs are honored as well.
Disable or remove it
- Disable or uninstall the installed Superpowers distribution in /plugin at the matching scope. Follow the session activation/reload instruction.
- Disabling the plugin does not stop an already running visual-companion server. Follow the pinned companion guide: from its skills/brainstorming directory, run bash scripts/stop-server.sh with the actual session directory as its argument.
- Removing the plugin does not revert design files, plans, worktrees or Git commits.
Limitations & considerations
- Can create specifications, plans, branches, worktrees and commits; inspect the workflow before enabling.
- Multi-stage reviews and subagents consume usage; this directory measured no time or cost savings.
- The optional browser visual companion makes a documented version-bearing image request unless opted out.
Source & review record
Our description is based on public documentation and manifests available on 2026-10-05. Installation formats were checked against Claude Code and the relevant installer documentation. No extension code was executed: this is a source review, not a runtime compatibility test or security audit.
