Hookify

Create local rules that warn about or block matching tool actions.

When to choose it

Expressing recurring workflow guardrails as readable rules.

Choose it if: A repeatable action can be described by event and regex conditions, with a warning or blocking rule.

Look elsewhere if: You need a complete security boundary or general shell-language analysis; pattern matching cannot provide either.

What the source describes

  • Markdown rules with YAML frontmatter
  • Pattern matching for actions and file changes
  • Commands to list and configure rules

Requirements

Limitations & considerations

  • Regex rules do not understand every shell command
  • Guardrails are not a complete security boundary
